Background
Juan (Daniel) was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma two years ago and was receiving experimental treatment for the cancer in his left leg and hip. Initially, he responded well to treatment and went into full remission. We were hopeful and looking forward to his ability to live a cancer free life.
Unfortunately, In recent months, Juan's health had begun to decline due to a recurrence of his Osteosarcoma. It was then determined the cancer had spread to his lungs as well and he was receiving a new round of treatment. His doctors identified a pulmonary embolism a few weeks ago and our family was in the process of creating a plan to save for Juan's funeral expenses "when the time came."
Sadly, that time came much sooner than any of us expected and we do not have the funds needed to pay for his funeral costs. Juan was truly an amazing person and we want him to receive the funeral he deserves. Anything donated through this fundraiser will be used to offset funeral costs and cover basic death-related expenses.
Because Juan also chose to raise money to help others living with cancer, it seems only fitting that any remaining donations from this fundraiser will be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
