Juan's obituary
Juan S. Ortega Jr. (“Tito”)
1968 – February 7, 2026
Juan S. Ortega Jr., lovingly known as “Tito,” passed away on February 7, 2026. Born in Camden, New Jersey in 1968, Juan was a true Florida boy at heart. Raised in South Florida, he spent many years in Central Florida and even lived in North Carolina during his high school days, but the Sunshine State was always where he belonged.
Juan had a deep love for fishing—something that defined so much of who he was. He rarely went anywhere without a fishing rod in his car, always ready to cast a line wherever he found water. For him, fishing wasn’t just a hobby; it was a way of life, a source of peace, and a joy he carried with him every day.
Professionally, Juan built a career in real estate, helping others find their place in the world. Beyond that, he was known as an incredibly skilled handyman—someone who could fix just about anything. If something was broken, Juan was the one you called. But more than what he did, it was who he was that people will remember most.
Juan was a natural jokester, always finding ways to make people laugh. His sense of humor and unmistakable laugh could light up a room and lift the spirits of anyone around him. He had a gift for bringing joy to everyday moments.
Of all his accomplishments, the one he cherished most was his son, Cruz Ortega. Cruz, age 9, was the center of Juan’s world, and he loved him deeply. Cruz misses his daddy dearly, and that bond will live on forever.
Juan is survived by his beloved son, Cruz Ortega; his partner of over 25 years, Lisa Segraves-Thomas; his mother, Hilda Moore, and stepfather, Emanuel Moore; his sister, Jannette Coby; his brothers, Jose Quiles and Edrick Ortega; and many extended family members who will forever cherish the memories and good times they shared with him.
Though he is gone from this life, his family finds comfort in their faith and the hope of being reunited one day. Until then, they hold close the memories, the laughter, and the love he gave so freely. And they imagine the day they will all be together again—fishing side by side by the sea.
Juan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
