John's obituary
John Davila of Dixon, IL, recently died at home at the age of 72. He was born Juan Jose Paul Davila in 1953 to Carmen and Juan Davila.
John lived a life marked by restlessness and searching. A man who took several trips down the aisle, he was married four times, though none of those unions endured. His longest companion in life was his struggle with alcohol—a presence that, for better or worse, remained with him until the end.
A lifelong lover of music, John played in multiple bands in his younger days, sharing his talent and passion with friends and audiences alike.
He is survived by two sons, four grandchildren, his siblings, and many nieces and nephews. Though John often fell short of being the father, grandfather, or brother his family needed, those who knew him understand that life is complex and imperfect. His family holds onto hope that he has now found the peace that eluded him in life.
In remembering John, we hold both the truth of who he was and the grace of letting go.
Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held.
