Joyslyn's obituary
Joyslyn Sams fell asleep in death on November 28, 2022. Joyslyn was 70 years old and was surrounded by her beloved niece, Shenna Sams, at the time of her passing.
To sum up Joyslyn’s life in only a few paragraphs would be an impossible task – but one we’re still willing to try. Joyslyn Sams was born to Alma Young and the late Samuel Sams Jr. in New Orleans, LA on February 05, 1952.
She's preceded in death by her: father, Samuel Sams Jr., brother, Samuel Sams III, her sisters, Clara Ducre' and Patricia Winston. She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Alma Young, sisters: Annie Louise Sams, Wintha Suzette Baham, Terria Sams, Deidre Warren and April Bernard. Also, here to reflect on Joyslyn's memory are her brothers, Graylin Sams Sr., Andrew Sams, Bradley Sams, Darren Crawford, step-mother, Marian Sams, and a host of other family and friends. Although she didn't physically have children, she played a significant part in the lives of many who will also miss her dearly. She had unique relationships with several of her nieces and nephews. Joyslyn had four God-children: Annie Bell Clark Holder, Dr. Markeith Lewis, Jermaine Sams Sr., and Daniel D. Sams.
After graduating high school, Joyslyn went on to attend Grambling State University for four years, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. She continued her education by earning her Masters plus 30 and received several certifications and accolades during her 40 plus years of service in the education field. Her dedication to her students was unmatched!
Joyslyn was the epitome of the words spoken in Romans chapter 12: If your gift is a ministry(serving others), minister to (serve) them well. If it is teaching, teach them well!
