I met Joyce while walking our Rat Terrier, Roxie. Joyce always had dog treats for "Roxie" and we seemed to hit it off visiting while Roxie was eating treats and getting attention. I gave her a picture of our "Roxie" while she was in the rest home & I delivered  Joyce tomatoes from our garden several times and she was always so thankful and full of conversation.  She seemed like such a sweet person and I'm extremely sorry to hear that she has passed, but I'm very happy to have been a friend of hers. What a sweet person !!!
Joyce was one of the people I most valued and most admired in this world.  Her clear-sightednesss, her integrity, her generosity, and her kindness were gifts to all who knew her.  She is missed....
We will miss this kind lady who was there during my younger years and beyond.   I was there to be sure Chris and Jon  had someone for after school care before Joyce got home from work at Prentice Hall. She had such a gift for listening. .  Blessed to have been able to keep in touch with her from time to time over the years.  We will keep Chris and Jon in our prayers.

I was lucky to have known Joyce albeit for too short of a time. I got to meet her when my mom, a neighbor of Joyce's, suggested I might walk Joyce's dog Maggie when I came to Platteville to visit from my home in Utah. It became one of the highlights of my biannual trips to Wisconsin. Joyce and I discovered we shared many common interests including books, shows and the like. After our wonderful visits I always felt inspired and rejuvenated. She was ALWAYS upbeat and positive despite the physical hardships she was enduring. I am grateful for have known her and my life was changed for the better because of her. I will miss you Joyce. Katie Domann

Joyce was a role model at Prentice-Hall. I am grateful that I had the chance to witness and benefit from her professionalism, her feistiness, and her warm heart. My condolences to Joyce's family and friends.

Jonathan Perkins
From Cymbeline, by William Shakespeare

Joyce asked that this poem be read for her:

 “Fear no more the heat o’ the sun”

BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

(from Cymbeline)

Fear no more the heat o’ the sun,

Nor the furious winter’s rages;

Thou thy worldly task hast done,

Home art gone, and ta’en thy wages:

Golden lads and girls all must,

As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.

Fear no more the frown o’ the great;

Thou art past the tyrant’s stroke;

Care no more to clothe and eat;

To thee the reed is as the oak:

The scepter, learning, physic, must

All follow this, and come to dust.

Fear no more the lightning flash,

Nor the all-dreaded thunder stone;

Fear not slander, censure rash;

Thou hast finished joy and moan:

All lovers young, all lovers must

Consign to thee, and come to dust.

No exorciser harm thee!

Nor no witchcraft charm thee!

Ghost unlaid forbear thee!

Nothing ill come near thee!

Quiet consummation have;

And renownèd be thy grave!
