Love this quote written about Joyce:  “Joyce never let a challenging situation define her. Her face always shined with the joy that was indicative of her strong Christian beliefs and character. She remained enthusiastic regardless of the circumstances.”  Certainly miss Joyce!  We loved her dearly!
My wife and I had the awesome privilege of getting to know and work with Joyce during Jubilee Way Corps training. It was an absolute joy. She was always smiling and I could tell she enjoyed serving at Camp Gunnison. Joyce frequently inspired and motivated me whenever I needed it. Her heart for God and his people was always on display. I truly treasure my time with her, Rich, Lori, & JJ.

Joyce always had a smile on her face no matter the circumstance because she had God's Word reigning in her mind and life!  She is deeply missed and there are so many wonderful memories to list.  Last year the Jubilee Way Corps got to have Joyce's loving oversight at Camp Gunnison.  These are some of the comments from the Jubilee Way Corps about Joyce: "We worked and fellowshipped and learned much from Joyce this past year at Gunnison.  Our memories are dear and we rejoice in the hope of Christ return!!"  "Joyce, in particular was instrumental in my training last year.  She believed in me, trusted me, and encouraged me. She forever made an imprint on my life."  "Dang, I was just texting back and forth on the 25th, letting her know how much we miss her...and she said ditto to that.  Really going to miss her for sure.  She spoiled us with treats at break time.  Thank God for the gathering together."  "Our beautiful faithful sister-in-Christ and dear friend will be missed.  So thankful that we get to see her again, and what a day of rejoicing that will be."  "A beautiful woman that will receive great rewards at the gathering.   We are so thankful to have known and served with her."  "Please pass our love on to Rich.  We loved Joyce so dearly.  It was a joy working with her in the Housekeeping Department last year.  She was always so thoughtful and giving.  She encouraged us to pace ourselves.  Joyce was a great example of living the Word with her whole heart."  "She was a true friend.  I look forward to seeing her again at the return of Christ."  "We are praying for her family."  "She was always so upbeat and edifying.  Really brought out the best in people."  "Joyce holds a special place in our hearts and the precious time that we were with her.  Our thoughts and love go out to Rich and the kids and the Staff.  We too will rejoice with her at the return."

Angels are always

near to those who

are grieving.

To whisper to them

that their loved

ones are safe in the

hands of God.

"Say not in grief 'she is no more

but in thankfulness that she was."

Ed Bernson:

Joyce has always been extremly hospitable and kind, never judgmental or selfish.  She has been a kind-hearted giving loving sister in every way that I can remember.  Growing up she would play Christmas carols on the piano. I especially remember Christmas eve and we would sing the hymns together

Kevin Bernson:

I was cosiderably younger than Joyce so my memories are from that perspective.

Joyce would always make me Molassis Cookies and mail them to me.  She did this for years and I'm not %100 sure she was good at baking or not . . lol.  but I could always count on getting them from her. I always thought of it as a box of molassis cookies with love.

I will always remember her wedding to Rich in Ohio.  It was a beutiful well kept place and at the reception I did a two step dance with Joyce which surprised her that I knew that dance.

I was immpressed that she was a nurse in a neonatal unit at the Evanston Hospital and enjoyed visiting her apartment that overlooked Lake Michigan.
