Joyce Iris Stewart, was born April 1, 1948, to the late Robert Benjamin and Gloria Ridgley Benjamin in New Orleans, LA, and passed away on March 28, 2023 in Riverside,Ca. She was the second of five children,
Joyce was a New Orleans native. She graduated in 1966 from George Washington Carver H.S. New Orleans, LA. She married her ex-husband Ronald Stewart Sr. on July 16, 1966. Ronald Sr.'s Air Force Career meant Joyce would leave her native New Orleans to travel to Air Force Bases. She lived Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lompoc, CA , Marysville/Yuba City, CA., San Diego,CA., Dallas,TX., and Jurupa Valley, CA.
Joyce had several jobs over her life. Majority of her career was as an civil service fork lift operator. 1980-1985 at the Vandenberg A.F.B Commissary, 1985-2003 at San Diego Naval Shipyard. Upon her retirement she loved spending time with family, traveling often to her native New Orleans for every family event. Her personality was characterized by her sense of humor, empathy, loyalty, and love for life.
Those left to cherish her memory; her children Denetrius Stewart, Ronald Stewart Jr.(Tara); 3 grandchildren, Sean Stewart-Watts, Christinia Taylor and Elijah Lucas; 4 great-grandchildren, Sean Delacey Norwood, Dakoda Stewart, Kingston Gipson, Aspen Wells-Stewart; siblings Richard Ridgley, Janet Benjamin Fluker; ex-spouse Ronald Stewart Sr. and host of aunts, nieces,nephews, grandnieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Ridgley Benjamin, father, Robert Benjamin; 2 siblings Robert & Jerome Benjamin. Grandmothers Anita Martin Ridgley, Nettie Bailey Benjamin.
A viewing for Joyce Stewart will take place April 21, 2023 @ 1:00 PM, at Preston & Simons Mortuary 3358 Mission Inn Ave. Riverside ,CA. 92501. Funeral service will follow @ 2:00 PM. Repass will follow the services at Towngate Community Center 13100 Arbor Park Lane, Moreno Valley, CA. 92553.
