Joyce's obituary
Joyce Ann Hutson (Lattin-Gigac) passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Jaime Claire Lattin, of North Palm Beach, Florida at 12:26 PM on April 11th, 2025, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Joyce was born on November 9th, 1956, at OSF Hospital in Monmouth, Illinois. The daughter of Donald and Polly (Edith Lewis) Hutson. She attended Nauvoo-Colusa High School and graduated in the Class of 1974.
She attended Cosmetology school and also worked many years in Hospitality. She started her hospitality career at Hardees in Fort Madison, Iowa and also worked at Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater in Jupiter, Florida, where she met many celebrities. She later worked at DeMarco’s Restaurant for over 12 years in Itasca, Illinois. Later, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked in various facilities and enjoyed working as a caregiver in her community. Joyce was an active member of St. Walters Catholic Church in Roselle, Illinois and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and Catechist.
Joyce was united in marriage on August 1st, 1984 in Palm Beach, Florida to John C. Lattin, of Perrysburg, Ohio. They had two daughters from their 10 year union: Jaime Claire Lattin of North Palm Beach, Florida and Johnna Ann Lattin of Roselle, Illinois.
Joyce was a huge lover of horses and rode every chance she could with her cousins and friends. She participated in many Rodeo events, including Barrel Racing and rode in parades for the Tri-State Rodeo and Grape Festival. She favored country music artists; some of her favorites were Jimmy Buffett, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and Patsy Cline. She attended many concerts. Joyce was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and met the owner of the team, Thomas Ricketts, while attending a home game with her mother in Chicago. Joyce married Steve Gigac in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 9th, 2001. They were together for 15 years.
Survivors include two daughters: Jaime and Johnna Lattin, two sisters: Jan Tripp, of Niota, Illinois, and Jean (LeeRoy) Neuweg, of West Point, Iowa, three brothers: John Hutson (Sandy), of Dallas City, Illinois, Jay Hutson (Roberta) of Quincy, Illinois, and Jeff Hutson (Brenda), of Avon, Indiana, twelve nieces and nephews, twelve great nieces and nephews, many cousins, and her beloved cat, Minnie Pye.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, John C. Lattin, her long-term partner, Mark Durnell, a nephew, Jim Tripp, and an infant sister.
A memorial Mass will be held on Sunday July 27th, followed by a Celebration of Life. Details to come.
