I had the pleasure of working with Joyce here at Carl Hayden High School. She taught ELD Pre-Emergent. I will always remember her sassy attitude and smile. 💜

Joyce was my Instructional Leader when I began teaching English at North. She set me on the path I’ve been on for the last ten years, teaching freshman English, which I love. I have always been grateful for her belief in my teaching ability and for offering me the freshman IB course. She offered me a way to grow I hadn’t allowed myself to hope for. I know without a doubt it was her leadership that gave me the opportunities I have taken advantage of over the years that have led me to where I am now professionally. I am better for having known her. Her memory will live on every time I share the story of her offer to me.
