Joyce's obituary

Joyce Juncosa Davidson

1929 – 2023

Milda Joyce Eanes was born in 1929 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Thomas and Pearl Eanes. She was raised in Texas and Oklahoma and graduated from Catoosa High School as the class valedictorian and then went on to community college. She was an accomplished pianist and singer in her younger years singing and playing hymns and participating in recitals. She also won a city-wide beauty pageant and was a print model. During a vacation to California in the early 50s, she met Ferdinand Juncosa and they married in 1954. They resided in West Los Angeles and then moved to a home in Sherman Oaks in 1962 where they raised their two daughters, Marie and Karen. Joyce worked at McCulloch Oil for many years and then became a stay-at-home mom. She was a devoted mother raising Marie and Karen and became an active school volunteer in the classroom, through the PTA and as a school nurse volunteer. The family enjoyed many driving vacations and the Juncosa and Eanes families enjoyed several Caribbean sailing trips together.

Joyce and Fred enjoyed a long marriage until his passing in 1991. Joyce was lucky enough to find love again and married Jack Davidson in 1998. They moved to the Palos Verdes Shores community in San Pedro, California where they enjoyed a wonderful social life and great friends. Sadly, Jack passed away in 2004. Joyce continued to live at Palos Verdes Shores surrounded by her good friends there.

Joyce was a very generous person. She loved animals, birds, gardening, cooking, traveling and most of all her family, friends, and those who took care of her in her home. She had a great sense of humor, great smile, loved to tell jokes, make up funny poems and kid around with others – even in the hospital with doctors and nurses.

She is survived by her two daughters Marie (David) Chura and Karen Juncosa, her brother Thomas (Sally) Eanes, sister-in-law Diane Juncosa, granddaughters Nicole and Cindy Chura, numerous nieces and nephews, and her dog Coco and cat Kiki.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in her memory to a charity. Two of her favorite charities were the Environmental Defense Fund (edf.org) and Best Friends Animal Society (bestfriends.org)

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at St. Peter’s by the Sea Presbyterian Church, 6410 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes, California at 11:30am with lunch immediately following. Memories to share or questions to ask may be sent to mchura5678@aol.com.
