Joyce's obituary
Joyce Dolifka Dalrymple, age 82, went to her heavenly home on February 22, 2024, at 8:30 pm. She was born on March 28, 1941, in Flagler, CO, to Charlie and Ima Dolifka.
While growing up in Thurman, CO, she attended a one-room schoolhouse during her primary years. She would go to four other schools and did not move once before graduating from Arriba High School in 1959. She received a degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1963 and began her teaching career in Pueblo. From 1967 to 1970, she taught school for the Department of Defense in Okinawa and Germany. While living overseas, she traveled extensively and volunteered to work with the Red Cross, serving soldiers from Vietnam. She returned to the US and married Dean Dalrymple on June 3rd, 1973. They were married for 46 years. They made their home in Fort Morgan, and she was employed by the RE3 School District. Prior to retirement, she taught for 31 years.
Joyce was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She worked in different areas of ministry, but her favorite was missions. Her relationship to God was important to her. She enjoyed teaching, decorating, sewing, traveling, and camping in the mountains. Her greatest joy was being with her family.
She is survived by three brothers, Paul Dolifka (Sharon) of Broomfield, CO, Don Dolifka (Mary Alice) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dale Dolifka (Rhoda) of Soldotna, AK, and one sister, Janice Peterson (Rick) of Arriba, CO.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dean and son Dewayne; her brother Loy Dolifka and his wife Betty Dolifka; her sister-in-law Carol and her husband Lyle Stevenson; and her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Thurman, CO, on May 27, 2024. Memorial remembrances may be sent to Samaritan’s Purse or the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
