Joyce's obituary
Her father, Frank immigrated from Italy through Ellis Island when he was young and married Rose Tromatine. They moved their family to Pittsburg, California where Joyce attended schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School. Joyce met and married Dick Berran Cross in Pittsburg in 1951. They had 5 sons, 2 of which died in infancy, Douglas and Jeffery. She taught Sunday School, was a den mother for Cub Scotts, loved to create costumes for Halloween and celebrate birthdays in a big way.
Her life changed when she and Dick divorced, leaving Joyce to raise three sons. She was a strong- willed determined woman who worked hard as a bartender to provide for her sons. She was an outstanding cook, (taught anyone who wanted to learn how to make gnocchi), lover of flowers, always dressed to the nine, decorated and celebrated every holiday and birthdays, loved to gather with family and friends and made all feel welcome. She loved parties and games and was a master of Scabble and Rummikub which she played in her very last days.
Joyce leaves behind a large Cross family: Sons Rick ( Valerie), Brian ( Holly), and Michael (Christina).
Seven grandsons: Tyson (Tanisha), Garrett (Kimberly), Nicholas Cierra), Joshua, Zachary, Jason, and Michael.
She finally got her girls in her great- granddaughters: Calia, Amaya, Capri, Reed and Kaydence along with two great grandsons: Cason and Mason.
Many of her nieces considered her as a mom and her large extended family of nieces, nephews, and their children have remained close and connected. Her friends were many as she was interested and able to talk to anyone.
Joyce will be greatly missed but remain in the hearts of many.
