Joyce's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Joyce Williams, her life was a vibrant journey of 77 years. Joyce was the youngest of 4 children; Ruby, Curt, Jean and Joyce, born to Mary & Dalton Clements in Virginia.  Joyce, known during her childhood as Suzy, spent her early years growing up on her grandparents farm, which is probably where she developed her free spirit and love of animals. Her family later moved to Coatesville, Pennsylvania where Joyce attended school and met her high school sweetheart Vern. The story is that Vern played in a band at the school dance and Joyce saw him and told her friends that she was going to marry him. Well Joyce usually got what she wanted, and she and Vern started dating. After Vern returned from the Air Force they were married and would have celebrated 60 years this coming year. They started their family and a couple years in, they decided to move to Southern California.  Joyce and Vern were the adventurous types, they moved with little money and packed up their two-year-old and their belongings in their 2 cars and drove cross-country.   Joyce had previously been to California and had secured a job managing an apartment complex. So they had somewhere to live but beyond that, they were winging it, crazy kids. They had a long and happy marriage, raised 4 daughters and their adopted daughter, and survived the passing of their youngest daughter, Samantha at birth. They had many fun adventures together, riding motorcycles, rebuilding classic cars, her a '58 Corvette and him of 1940 Ford pick up. They even flew around in a plane that Vern built. They made one last big move to Texas, where they first lived in the city where Vern's job brought them. Joyce built her Insurance billing  business while they lived there, she was always such an entrepreneur. Then finally, when they decided to retire, they moved to Holly Lake Ranch.  They made many friends there and mom loved all the furry critters around the ranch.  Joyce lost her beloved Vern in 2019 to cancer, and now they have rejoined each other and will start a new journey together.

She is survived by her loving daughters; Anita & George Rivera, Jean Cutler, Teri Costello, Nicole Williams and Lydia Duncan. She also leaves behind her siblings; sister Jean Raum & Ron and brother Curt Clements. Her legacy will continue to thrive through her beloved grandchildren;  Angela Rivera, Alex & Betzabeth Rivera, Hope Cutler, Samantha & Brent Watts, Sean Costello and her great grandchildren; Gabe Rivera-Scheetz, Aiden Watts, Mikey Watts.

Joyce was sadly predeceased by her husband, Vern Williams, her daughter Samantha, her mother Mary Profit, her sister Ruby Kita, sister in-law Margie Clements and her grandson Marcus Fierro.  Her loss has left a void that can never be filled.

A Celebration of Life will take place on October 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department in Holly Lake Ranch, TX.

In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up for "Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department Incorporated Wood County", which Joyce deeply cared for. Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of…

We remember Joyce as a loving, vibrant individual whose presence brought joy to everyone around her, and whose spirit touched all she encountered. Her life and legacy continue through the love she shared and seeds she sowed in the lives she touched. Joyce will be deeply missed by many.
