Joy's obituary
Dr. Joy Ukpong, who was my Angel, Leader, Mother, and Best-friend, completed her Primary School at Ibiono Ibom, and Secondary School at African Church Secondary School, Okuibioku. After graduating from secondary school, Dr. Joy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Lagos State University (LASU). She also earned a National Certificate of Education from LASU.
Dr. Joy Ukpong then married Nicholas Udo Ukpong, whom she originally met in childhood and reconnected with in adulthood. The couple had three children before migrating to the United States. Dr. Joy Ukpong wanted to create a better life and more opportunities for her children, whom she greatly cherished. She graduated from Coppin State University, Baltimore, MD, with a Bachelor of Science, and from Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD, with a Doctorate in Social Work. Dr. Joy Ukpong worked with the state of Maryland in several capacities as a social worker for over 20 years. She was a licensed Behavioral Counselor in the State of Maryland.
Unfortunately, due to her sudden debilitating illness, she was forced to stop working. Dr. Joy Ukpong was a blessing to everyone she ever came in contact with. Despite all the challenges that she endured during her final years, she remained steadfast with her faith in God, and her spirit radiated joy, which is her name.
In God's Loving Memory, we say well done and farewell to Dr. Joy Ukpong.
