Joy E. Finley passed away on Sunday, September 11th in Portland, OR. Joy was born in Portland on February 14th, 1931 and was the eldest of two children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanton and Ora Hayes, brother Thomas Hayes, husband Richard Finley, and daughter Carole Stanton.

Survived by her cat Dolly, daughters Elizabeth Shepard and Leslie Finley, sons Stanton Bellarts and Glenn Finley, stepson Paul Houle, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and countless friends.

Joy graduated from Washington High School in 1949. She had been a clerk for the Oregon welfare office before deciding to become a full-time homemaker.

Joy was faithfully active in her church for many years. She also provided counseling services to cancer patients.

Joy was a gifted seamstress and artist who enjoyed designing and making clothing and hand-embroidered dolls among other crafts.

Joy was kind and friendly to everyone she met throughout her many years. Joy truly was a joy to be around, a pure treasure of a human being. She will be dearly and forever missed.

Services will be held at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 am. 1535 NE 17th Ave. Portland, OR.

Interment and reception to follow.
