Jourden's obituary

Jourden Michele (Jordy) Hensley was born April 19, 1990 in Casper, Wyoming. Jourden's early years were spent in Glenrock where she attended school and often helped out in her family's restaurant (Four Aces). Jourden moved with her family to Laramie in 2002 where she resided until the time of her death. Jourden graduated from Laramie High School in 2008 and received a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Development in 2013. Jourden taught second grade in Jackson, Wyoming and later taught second grade in San Diego, CA. That position ended with a COVID-inspired change to remote learning in 2021. At that time, Jourden returned to Laramie and was employed as a full-time health caregiver. She was privileged to be assigned to 24-hour care of her Grandfather, George. In recent months, she was also employed by Killians Florist in Laramie.

Jourden loved children, music and flowers in that order. Children of all ages found an immediate friend, protector and ally in her. No child escaped her attention or care. She could spend hours interacting with children of all ages. She desperately wanted a family of her own.

Jourden also had a deep love of music. Her favorite artists were Miranda Lambert and Keith Whitley though her musical interests were universal. She could easily have competed on "Name that Tune" or "America's Got Talent, for that matter. Jourden was not an accomplished musician but she knew her way around a piano and intermittently took up guitar and banjo noting that being left-handed made string instruments a bit of a challenge.

Jourden had an eye for beauty both in the natural world and in the souls of people. She loved flowers and pretty things. She did not like mean people, negativity or unpleasant situations but could easily be provoked to anger if someone dared threaten a child or a family member. Talk about a mother bear!

Jourden leaves behind her parents (Bill and Roxie Hensley) her siblings: John Hensley (brother), Kelsey Robertson (SIL), Andrew (BIL) and Caitlan Barnes (sister) and Garrett (brother) and Mackenzie Hensley (SIL). She also leaves both her Grandfathers; George Jackson, 89 of Laramie and Harold Hensley, 94 of Grand Junction, TN. Collectively, their hearts are heavy today but are lightened by the knowledge that they were privileged to be in her company for almost 35 years and confident that they will meet again in Glory.
