Josie was a devoted mother and grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She is survived and deeply missed by her loving children: Kevin (Andrea), Delena (Gregory), Donnetta (James), Kenyatta (Margaret), and N'Namdi (Theresa). Her legacy continues through her eighteen cherished grandchildren: LaKesha, Nathanial, Jasmyne, Abiana (Anthony), Bakhari, Zameria, Nykele, Carlisle, Deonna, Cabriea, Kevin Jr., Zakiya (Quinten), De'Ja, De'Man, Ariell, Giara, Jaden, Josiah, and Julian.
Josie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Gwendolyn; sons Quentin, Shahid, and Ronald; as well as her siblings James, Randolph, Dorothy, George, Harry, Hazel, Otis, and Albert. As the last surviving member of her siblings' generation, Josie carried forward their collective spirit with grace and resilience.
Throughout her life, Josie found joy in traveling to new places and meeting people from all walks of life. She had a passion for bowling and was known for her culinary talents—especially her famous vegetable lasagna that became a favorite among family and friends. Her incredible patience and willingness to help others allowed her to forge lasting friendships wherever she went.
In retirement, even as her eyesight diminished, Josie continued to find fulfillment through conversations with family members and friends. She delighted in listening to audiobooks and sharing wisdom gleaned from both experience and literature. Whether offering insight or laughter to lift someone’s spirits, Josie's presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to many—including nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, former employees and customers.
Josie Mae Anderson’s life was a testament to kindness and perseverance. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved so dearly. May her legacy continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
