Josh's obituary
Joshua Keith Stavnes, 45, of Elizabeth, CO, entered into the full presence of Jesus on September 13, 2024.
Joshua was born on June 12, 1979 to LaVonne (Jacobson) and Keith Stavnes in Detroit Lakes, MN. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Brethren Church in Fergus Falls, in 1994. After Joshua graduated Highschool from Fergus Falls Sr. High in 1997 he attended 2 years at Fergus Falls Community College and pursued football at Moorhead State University. Joshua spent his life in many different vocations: in construction, as a large machinery operator, an EMT, a Cross Fit instructor and competitive weight lifter and he graduated from the Denver Fire Academy in 2013.
God saved Josh in his early 20’s, he became a new creation and was water baptized into his new life. He spent time at MN Teen Challenge twice in his life. The first time resulted in him becoming a man on fire for God with a clear mind, eyes and ears. Joshua was full of life, had a beautiful smile, did everything “BIG”, was eager to help and was a master big machine operator-he loved big trucks! He encouraged himself by tattooing Isaiah 41:10 on his arm, his life verse. He loved his wife and 3 children with great zeal.
Joshua married Rachel Zotalis, of Fergus Falls, MN in December of 2006. They lived briefly in San Diego, California and then in Denver, CO. They were divorced in 2014.
Joshua married Briana Janssen of Golden, CO on September 14, 2014. They spent their time living in Elbert, CO and Buffalo, MN before returning to CO.
Joshua is survived by his wife: Briana, his 3 children: Aubree (9) Aspen (7) & Jj (4) his parents: LaVonne (Paul) and Keith, his siblings: Angie (Kurt), Olaf, Eric, Elsa, Hilary (Nathan), Paul Lars (Lindsey), and Tristin, his 14 nieces and nephews and his grandmother: Ethel who is 101.
Funeral services will be held at City Hill Church, Eden Prairie, MN on Monday, September 23 at 1:00p. A fellowship luncheon will follow.
