Just realized that my 3-year old son shared Josh's birthday. He would have got a kick out of that (and the fact that I have kids). I miss his sarcasm, his hippie-hating, and his funny, kind, generous soul.

So sorry to hear of Josh's passing. Josh was an integral part of my early 20's living in Breck where I spent way too much time at the bar. He was serving up SoCo and Lime or Purple Kook Aid shots - probably more than I needed. Lots of late nights and laughs with lots of fuzzy memories. When I came back for a visit he was one of the people I reconnected with and we had a fun day on the mountain playing on the Alpine Slide - it was like no time had passed. Thankful for the core memories he helped create as I was finding my footing in Colorado. When I tell stories of that time in my life - they certainly almost involve a bar - and usually my favorite bartenders. I haven't had a purple kool aid shot since. Rest easy.

My husband and I recently moved from Utah, to Myrtle Beach, and the first bar we went to was Jake’s dive bar.
I will never forget how it felt when we met Josh we instantly loved him and had the best conversations about everything any nothing at all. Josh was so respectful and kind to us “Thank You Josh”
The last time we saw him he was telling us how he and his girlfriend were going to visit his parents for Thanksgiving, and he made a comment about having an stress-free, happy existence.
Josh always asked about our fur baby “Rain” and truly was a remarkable individual.
Josh we will never forget you, and we will always remember how your face lite up every time we walked into your bar. We send condolences, love & peace to your girlfriend, fur babies and family.
RIP
Love, Justin and Joey.

Rest in peace Josh. I didn't know you, but someone who did and cared a lot about you was in contact as I was in the area around the time it happened and he talked highly of you. You didn't deserve to go, but know you were and are loved by so many. Thank you for your service and rest easy.

We met as college students, different colleges, same town. What an incredible couple of years we had. Always an adventure when we were together. I can imagine he had this effect on many people in the last 30 years, I know I will never forget him. Fly high Josh, you are truly one of a kind.

My condolences to Josh's family. I first met Josh the first day they opened Jake’s dive bar in Socastee. Josh was such a cool dude definitely his inappropriate jokes where one of his good qualities of many good qualities … I honestly can say I never met anybody that didn’t like Josh he was a skilled bartender it was great to know you could get a top shelf cosmopolitan at a local dive bar!!! And Josh loved the pups he would trick Boscoe by putting a treat in both hands…..🙂
I will forever remember him and his signature laugh I can hear it in my head right now as I’m writing this RIP Josh

My condolences to Josh's family. I first met Josh when I was out for my birthday years ago when he bartended at another establishment. He was always outgoing and always had a snappy comeback for anything you said to him. I was elated when I found out he and Ruben bought their own bar. Always like visiting Jake’s. He loved his girlfriend and his puppies as well as mine. He will forever be missed. My condolences to his family, girlfriend ,and friends. Fly high my friend and find your puppies mad max and your old Boston terrier.

I'm so sorry for all of Josh's family and friends (who were also family). I really regret not keeping in touch with Josh since I left Breck. He was one of the nicest guys, coolest bosses I've ever had, and just a great guy. His couch was always open and comfy whenever I worked late and couldn't drive or hitchhike out of town to get home. Miss you buddy.
