Joshua's obituary
Las Cruces, New Mexico — Joshua David Briseno, (Josh) age 42, passed away on April 10, 2026. Born on October 15, 1983 to Delia Hernandez, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was blessed with four siblings, Angela Calhoun, Renee Nichols, Joseph Hernandez, and Jheri Lee Anna Elliot. In 1998, when he was 15, he was adopted by Leonel and Lucille Briseno. Along with his new parents he was once again blessed with four additional siblings; Johnny Moses (Katherine), Alejandro Mateo (Maria), Carlos Diosdado, and Diego Joshua. Josh married Clarineska Bernard, and throughout their time together, showed profound love for her.
Joshua attended Valley View Elementary, Lynn Middle School, graduated from Las Cruces High School in May of 2002, and attended Dona Ana Community College for one semester. He played baseball and wrestled for LCHS. Throughout his adult life he worked as a laborer at various companies.
Josh had a warm, easy way of connecting with people—he could talk to anyone about anything. He was a source of unending, wonderfully random thoughts and ideas, and he could spin a story that would make others laugh (or put the boy who called wolf to shame). He also had a gift for drawing and sketching.
Joshua is survived by his parents, Leonel and Lucille Briseno; and his siblings Johnny Moses (Katherine), Alejandro Mateo (Maria), Carlos Diosdado, and Diego Joshua, Angela Calhoun, Renee Nichols, Joseph Hernandez, Jheri Lee Anna Elliot, several aunts and uncles as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
He is preceded in death by his birth mother Delia Hernandez, grandparents, Juanita and Robert Briseno, Fermin Torres, uncles, Martin Briseno, Filmer Torres, Adrian Briseno, and his aunts, Theresa Briseno, and Bernice Florez.

Miguel Briseno, officiating, assisted by Deacon Randolf Rivas and Deacon Ruben Gutierrez. Urn bearers will be his brothers Johnny, Alejandro, Carlos, and Diego.
