Background
Josh Bechtel passed away very suddenly on July 11th from a heart aneurysm. His death has revealed more than ever how truly loved he was and the many ways he impacted his communities.
Josh's mission was the help others find their voice while he worked on finding his own. He advocated for adopted kids, survivors of religious trauma and abuse, those who lived with FASD and more.
Josh was a philosopher and poet, an artist and advocate. He asked a lot...I mean a lot...of questions. He wasn't afraid of confrontation and he wasn't afraid to say hard things.
Josh loved Jesus...the Lord alone was His God. Josh cared deeply about people but no longer bought into religious dogma. He held the tension between loving Jesus (and people) and struggling with religion that claimed to love Jesus...but often didn't show love toward people.
It would be easy to say that Josh's work on earth is done, but his impact and friendship will continue to affect the MANY people that knew him.
Josh was a man of humble means. But he loved people well. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise funds to pay for expenses related to Josh's funeral. Anything extra that is raised will go toward continuing the work he started.
The funeral will be Saturday, July 27 in Barberton, OH.
Location and time will be released as soon as details are finalized.
If you are able, please plan to come that day. We expect that there will be many stories shared of how Josh loved people well. Contribute
