In fulfillment of Josh’s wishes, we will be laying him to rest at Channel Buoy 1, which resides off Pt. Loma and marks the entrance to San Diego Bay.  A buoy that bids us farewell on our voyages out to sea, and welcomes us back home safely each time we return.  Many of us have sailed past this spot countless times with Josh and now it will forever be a place to remember and honor him.

The plan is to have an armada of boats do a parade route from CB 17 (off Shelter Island) out to buoy 1, where we will gather and have an ash scattering ceremony over the VHF radio (Channel 68).

Schedule:

-9:30am boat call (various boats)

-10:00am boats depart their docks

-10:30am parade route starts at Channel Buoy 17 (green channel marker off the Shelter Island Police Dock)

-Gather at buoy 1 for the ash scattering ceremony (VHF Channel 68)

Many of Josh’s friends have boats of their own, or already have a ride planned.  We will do our best to place anybody else who would like to attend.

Keep in mind this will be an estimated 3 hour trip, that goes offshore. 

 Be sure to dress warmly and comfortably!

***FAMILY *** There will be designated boats taking Josh’s family out, his Mother Katherine and Aunt Joan are getting head counts for that. If you are a relative that would like to go one the family boats, please make sure they have you on their list (no need to RSVP here).

We will be CELEBRATING a life WELL LIVED after the ash scattering.  Josh belonged to so many families.  Let’s bring them all together to enjoy some food, drinks and share our favorite Josh stories.

We even hope to get a Josh inspired jam session going in the evening, so bring an instrument if you can! 

-Food and drinks will be provided.

-A microphone will be available for those who would like to share a memory, read a poem or passage, play a song, or speak about Josh.  Please feel free to honor Josh however you see fit.

-Ample parking is available in the parking lots between Koehler Kraft Boatyard and the Bali Hai Restaurant.
