Josephine's obituary
Josephine Ann Mihalic, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on June 5, 1935, Joann lived a full life, cherished by her family and friends for her creativity and generosity.
Joann was a devoted wife to her late husband, Anthony Mihalic, who passed in 2019. Together, they built a life filled with love, hard work, and shared passions, particularly in their nursery business, Wildwood Gardens, where they worked side by side.
Joann is survived by her children, Tony, Frank, Mike (Kathy), Mary Martin (husband John, deceased) and Diane Sayers (husband Connor, deceased). Her legacy lives on through her 7 grandchildren (Kimberly, John, Theresa (Dave), Laura Beth (Dan), Christina (Avery), Craig, and Sarah) and 3 great-grandchildren (Cecelia, Jack, and Julianna).
Joann had a passion for crafts, particularly crocheting, and her hands were always busy creating beautiful gifts for those she loved. She also had a special talent for gift-giving, often finding the perfect present for every occasion, delighting in the joy it brought to others.
Her work in food services at Chardon Local Schools allowed her to connect with the children she adored, and she was a familiar, welcoming face in the cafeteria. Joann took great pride in interacting with the students.
A private family service will be held, with a celebration of Joann’s life to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joann’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Rest in peace, Joann. Your love and kindness will never be forgotten.
