Josephine's obituary

Josephine Gaughan, age 101, passed away at 2:15 pm February 7, 2024 at McLeod Medical Center in Little River South Carolina.   She was born in New York City in 1922 and earned a BS Degree in Chemistry from Hunter College.  After moving to New Jersey in 1964 she taught elementary school for many years until retiring to Calabash, North Carolina.

Jo, as she was fondly referred to by her late husband, was the beloved mother of six children.  She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Valenti and her sons, Paul & his wife Linda, Mark & his wife Elaine, Joel & his wife Mare', and Gregory & his wife Shaofang Gaughan.  Each of them has been deeply influenced by her teachings and values.  She is also survived by her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Josephine was a loving wife. She was predeceased by her husband, John Gaughan. Their love was one of deep respect and mutual support.  She was also predeceased by her son, Denis Gaughan and stepson Joseph Valenti.

The family is deeply grateful for all the love and support they have received during this difficult time.  Josephine's life was a testimony to her strength and her unwavering love for her family.  She will be forever remembered, deeply missed and continually present in our hearts and lives.

Josephine will be laid to rest next to her predeceased husband and her parents Paul and Mae Pernice at the Holy Savior Cemetery in Bethlehem Pennsylvania.  Services will be at the Holy Savior Cemetery  in Bethlehem Pennsylvania at 11:00 am on April 24, 2024.
