Josephine's obituary
Josephine M. Dugan, lovingly known as “Joy,” was born on June 21, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, to Jean and Pete DeRosa. She grew up alongside her two sisters, Marcella and Vivian, and carried a vibrant spirit and strong will throughout her life.
In her youth, Joy was a talented dancer and was honored with the opportunity to become a Rockette. However, she chose a different path, one devoted to family and motherhood. She dedicated many years to working for the local school district, where her caring nature touched many lives beyond her own home.
Joy had a passion for cooking, especially Italian food, and loved sharing meals with her family. She also found joy in relaxing with her favorite television shows, including Lifetime movies and competition series like American Idol.
Above all, Joy was a strong, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind a proud and enduring legacy through her five children — Robert, Kevin, Deborah, Sean, and Pamela — along with her 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Her strength, warmth, and dedication to her family will be forever cherished by all who knew her.
