Josephine's obituary

Josephine Conte (Forbes) was born in Harlem Hospital, New York, NY. She was the youngest of five siblings and the daughter of the late Lillie and Richard Forbes. Josephine departed her life on January 10, 2022, after a long illness.

She attended school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, at PS 188, JHS 22 and graduated from Seward High School in 1968.

Shortly after school she attended college for a brief period and started working for New York Life Insurance Company where she devoted 30 years of service. During her working career she received several promotions for her dedication to her jobs. On her last promotion she became a computer programmer, a job she truly enjoyed. Dedication and Devotion was very much a part of Josephine’s personality and life. She would have worked longer but because of her illness she decided to stay home and take care of herself and family.

In 1969, she began studying the Bible with Jehovah Witnesses and got baptized in May 30,1970 and began her dedication to serving in the ministry preaching Jehovah’s words found in the Bible.

In the summer of 1978, she met and fell in love with Richard W. Conte Sr and on June 23,1979 they married. From their union as husband and wife they were blessed with a son Richard W. Conte II, who was her pride and joy.

Once again Josephine’s Dedication and Devotion was to serve Jehovah God, her husband and son were very important to her and she maintained her position as a spiritual supportive wife and mother for 43 years.

Josephine loved music, she loved singing and had a beautiful singing voice. She was often asked to sing at gatherings, weddings, and special occasions. That was something she and Richard enjoyed doing, as duets. She loved dancing, bowling, doing crosswords puzzles and above all things, she loved the truth.

Cherishing Josephine’s memory, she leaves behind the following survivors, her sister Vivian (Forbes) Williams, nephews Eric and David. On the Conte side of her family are sisters-in-law; Charmaine Blanding, Yvette Gathright, Renee Bradley, brothers-in-law; Cyrus, Ronald, Melvin Conte Jr., along with a host of nieces, nephews and a myriad of friends.

We will all miss her dearly.
