Josephine's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josephine Cockrell, who transitioned on March 5, 2026, and was born on October 18, 1942. She was a woman of extraordinary strength, resilience, and boundless love, touchingly characterized by her sweet, warm, and caring nature. To know Josephine was to experience the very embodiment of generosity, kindness, and love—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

Josephine found joy in the simple pleasures of life, savoring soul food with loved ones, and raising a glass of Diet Pepsi or coffee to toast the beauty of the present moment. She was an ardent fan of the television show Matlock, and relished the tranquility of her favorite vacation spot, North Carolina.

Josephine was a loving mother to Katherine, Gary, Joseph, and George Cockrell. She was a doting grandmother to Marshae Scott, Kasana Cockrell, Jayden Cockrell, Eva Cockrell, Jordan Cockrell, and Serenity Cockrell. The love she bestowed upon them shaped their lives, and her influence will continue to guide them.

In her passing, Josephine now joins her beloved husband, Gerald Cockrell, and her doting parents, Fredrick and Mildred Carter. Her life and memories will forever be cherished by those she left behind.

While we mourn Josephine's physical departure, we find comfort in reliving the beautiful memories she left behind and celebrating the life she lived so fully. Her spirit, characterized by unwavering kindness, generosity, and love, will continue to illuminate our paths.
