Joseph's obituary
He was a 1969 graduate of King High School in Tampa, Florida and graduated from Hillsborough Community College. Joe served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Washington, D.C. and Adak, Alaska. After his military service he began a career spanning over two decades with the United States Government, Department of Treasury.
Joe was a member of the Church of Christ and loved God. He was a wonderful father, sports enthusiast, and avid fisherman. He loved spending time with his 13 grandchildren more than anything in the world. He had a zest for life and a smile that would light up a room whenever he entered. He was charismatic and kind to everyone he met, and always looked for the positive no matter what challenges life threw at him. To know him, was to love him.
Joe is survived by his six children, daughter Tracy and son-in-law Robert (Pabel), daughter Melissa and son-in-law Micheal (Scovel), son Joseph Wilson, III and daughter-in-law Trista, son Joshua Wilson and daughter-in-law Laura, daughter Kayla (Butz) and son Jacob Wilson. Thirteen grandchildren Trip, Preston, Allison, Natalie, Andruw, Ari (Joseph Wilson IV), Nora, Ryken, Jaiden, Gabe, Brooklyn, Declan, and Hailey. Joe is also survived by his older bother Ronald E. Wilson.
A service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life and memorial at sea to take place out in the waters of St. Pete Beach, his favorite place next summer. Family and Friends will be notified once dates are confirmed.
The family would like to thank the wonderful team of professionals that took care of dad at St. Joseph's Hospital, the experts at the Barrow Neurological Institute, and the caring hands and hearts at Hospice of the Valley.
