Joseph's obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph "Joe" Weatherly, who left us on October 30, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio.  Joe was born on June 9, 1959, in Gadsden, Alabama, the son of the late Annie Laura Snowden-Weatherly and Leonard Ray Weatherly.

Joe was known for his warm spirit, his love for music and his gift in the kitchen. Whether he was preparing a homemade dish, listening to his favorite songs, or sharing stories from his adventures, Joe had a special way of making people feel at home wherever he was.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Joe served his country with honor and dedication. He was most proud of his time served in Germany where he developed his cooking skills as a Culinary Specialist. He carried the values of service and compassion throughout his life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

After leaving the Army Joe spent most of his years in Ohio, where he started a family and became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  Later in life he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, which ultimately became one of his favorite destinations. Joe eventually made his way back to Ohio to be closer to his family. During his life, Joe was blessed with meaningful relationships and deep love. He shared many cherished years with Felicia Benjamin, who remained a special part of his heart and his life.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister Gwendolyn Kiwanuka. He is survived by his daughters Marissa Weatherly, Vanavia Weatherly and Jessica Kolbs, and his cherished grandchildren Evan Weatherly, Jonah Weatherly, Olivia Weatherly, Jordae Smith, Jaylan Smith, Jayla Smith, Braylan Fry and Zoie Fry, great-grand children Dagean Smith and Zaiden Miller, and his adored grand-pup Murray.

He is also survived by his brothers Stephen Clemmons (wife Karen Clemmons); Tony Weatherly (wife Della Boyd -Weatherly) and their children Dre Boyd-Weatherly and Terrance Boyd-Weatherly; his nephews Jeffrey Kiwanuka (wife Amy Kiwanuka) and their daughters Nora, Stella and Tessa; John Kiwanuka (wife Alexa Kiwanuka) and their son Iverson Klusmann, and niece Bridget McGrain (husband Sean McGrain) and their daughters Londyn and Raelyn.

His spirit will continue to live on in his family and the countless memories shared. His absence will be deeply felt and remembered always.
