Joe's obituary

Joe Waksmacki of Lighthouse Point passed away on October 1 after a brief illness, at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Mr. Waksmacki was born in Chicago on October 15, 1939. He graduated from Saint Rita of Cascia High School. He was a member of the baseball team and an altar boy of their church and he was also a semi-professional bowler in his spare time. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well.

After high school, Mr. Waksmacki began his path in construction by getting his Journeyman’s license, learning every aspect of every trade in the building business. He began his career by working for Edward Hines lumber company but quickly decided that his fate lied in owning his own company. He started a home remodeling business out of his home at first and then moved his business to Archer Avenue. After the death of his father, he moved to Florida to pursue saltwater fishing. He began his career in Florida by installing cabinets for a short time until he opened up Broward Custom Kitchens, Inc. in 1980. His business legacy will be carried on by his son, Scott Waksmacki and his daughter, Dawn Maggio.

Mr. Waksmacki loved his family and sportfishing. Many of his trips were spent looking for marlin, wahoo or swordfish. He was always up for talking about sports, fishing, boats, his family and would never shy away from a political discussion. He had a great respect and love for our country.

Mr. Waksmacki is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Margaret Waksmacki. He is survived by his sons, Joe Waksmacki Jr., and D. Scott Waksmacki (Cathy), his daughter, Dawn Maggio (Jonathan), and his 4 grandchildren, Jacob Waksmacki, Benjamin Maggio, Nicolas Waksmacki, and Audrey Maggio.

Arrangements for the celebration of life are available from the family.
