Joseph's obituary

Joseph Lamar Trammell Jr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Chula Vista, California, at the age of 92. Born to Joseph Lamar Trammell and Catherine Trammell in Atlanta, Georgia, Joe lived a life filled with service, love, and dedication to his family and country.

Joe’s journey began in the United States Navy, where he served honorably from 1950 to 1954, during the Korean War. His time in the Navy shaped his character, instilling in him a sense of duty, integrity, and resilience that would define the rest of his life.

In 1954, Joe started his long and successful career with San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), where he worked for 41 years until his retirement in 1995. It was at SDG&E that Joe met the love of his life, Carol. The two were inseparable, building a life together, raising a family, and sharing many years of happiness and love.

Joe was a man of many talents. A creative inventor at heart, he was always looking for ways to improve things, whether it was a gadget in the home or a new project at work. His curiosity and problem-solving skills were unmatched, and he was always happy to lend a hand to those in need of his expertise.

Beyond his work and inventions, Joe was a passionate family man and the world’s greatest story teller. He treasured time spent with his children, Mike and Ron, and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a coach for many years, and a board member at Park View Little League. Whether playing games, enjoying golf, or visiting the casino, Joe found his greatest joy in the company of his family. He was a provider and protector, always putting the needs of his loved ones above all else.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Carol; sons Mike and Ron; two brothers; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. His legacy of love, service, and unwavering commitment to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Joe’s love for his family, his creativity, and his kindness will be missed, but never forgotten. He lived a life of purpose, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
