Joseph's obituary

Joseph Michael Sorce Jr. of Westfield, Indiana, died Thursday, June 15, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born February 21, 1932, Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Ann (Nee: Russotto) and Joseph Sorce. He married Rose Ann (+ 1967) (Nee: Scaccia) in Chicago, Illinois, Arlyn Kay (+2014) (Nee: Fitchner) in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Judith in Hawaii.

He was a longtime devoted parishioner and volunteer of St. Francis Borgia Deaf Center. He was an active member within multiple organizations such as; ICDA (International Catholic Deaf Association), Chicago Catholic Ephpheta (CCE), National Fraternal Society of the Deaf, Greater Cincinnati Deaf Club (GCDC), Madison County Deaf Club (MCDC), Greater Indianapolis Deaf Club (GIDC), Deaf - Senior Silent Hoosiers (SSH) and the Batesville Knights of Columbus (K of C).

He is survived by his sons, Joseph(Steve) of Chicago, Illinois; David(Maria) of Algonquin, Illinois, Paul( Giovanna) of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Steven( Anjanette) of Westfield, Indiana, and brother, sister & brother in laws, Anthony( Gloria) Sorce, Manhattan New York, Daniel Fitchner, Batesville, Indiana and Mary Fitchner, Batesville, Indiana, and grandchildren RoseAnn (Matthew), Marissa, Cameron, Matthew, Giovana, and Ricco as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Kay Sorce, and sister Paula Nelson (Nee: Sorce).

Family and friends to meet for a celebration of life mass at St. Francis Borgia Deaf Chapel, 8033 W. Addison, Chicago Illinois on August 12, 2023, at 11 am. Private interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
