Joe's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Joseph "Joe" O’Weger. Born on December 12, 1945, Joe departed from this earthly realm on September 16, 2025. A passionate, loyal, inspiring, and uniquely positive joy, his spirit enriched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joe is survived by his treasured wife, Ellen O’Weger who remains forever grateful for the gift of her beloved husband. He leaves behind a loving family, including his sons Joe, David, and Matthew O’Weger, his daughters Susan McArthur and Juliene Riley, his sister Carol Brennan and his 12 beloved grandchildren. His remarkable legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to live on through them.

Known by many as a gourmet food lover, Joe held a special fondness for the art of cooking and painting, often intertwining the two in beautiful harmony. His passion for the Queen rock band was infectious, often leading to impromptu family performances and joyous singalongs.

Joe’s favorite place to unwind and recharge was the beautiful city of Helsinki, often surrounded by the color he loved so much - blue. His teachings of kindness and perseverance will remain deeply etched in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.

His life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and positivity. Above all, Joe taught us the value of kindness and the strength of spirit that comes from never giving up, no matter the odds.

As we remember Joe, we rejoice in a life beautifully lived and a soul uniquely cherished. Although his physical presence will be dearly missed, his spirit and legacy will shine on, inspiring and encouraging us in all our tomorrows.
