Pat's obituary

Joseph Patrick "Pat" Nichols, aka TAO, “The Awesome One”, was lovingly surrounded by his loved ones when he gained his wings on October 9, 2023. He's been reunited with his loved ones who preceded him, his parents Joseph Ray Nichols and Betty Jean Wilkerson and his two brothers Mike and Marty Nichols. He is survived by the mother of his children, Kathy, their 9 children Heather, Lance, Lacy, Patrice, Kerri, Patrick, Chase, Cameron and Bethany, 13 grandchildren Imari, Natori, Tristyn, Gabby, Grayson, Joey, Logan, Gavin, Torren, Mission, Afton, Harlow and Ammon, as well as their 5 great grandchildren Tao, Aiko, Alaina, Everly and Adeya. He was a fun-loving father who will be extremely missed by his family as they loved him dearly and they knew how much he loved them.

A bit of a mischievous young man, the courts gave him the option to join the military or go to jail. So then began his adventure in the Navy where he became a Sonar Tech and received an honorable discharge after serving almost 10 years. He joined the United States Postal Service where he eventually retired as the Manager, Maintenance Operations in Orlando, FL. His love of Martial Arts led him to earn a 9th degree black belt in Taekwondo where he was eventually honored by being placed in the Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

He loved mom’s cooking, motorcycles, guns, all the new gadgets, mysteries of the universe, and many other things that peaked his interest. There wasn’t a subject he didn’t know something about. His zest for life and genuine love for people made him well loved by anyone he came into contact with. His genius mind, witty sense of humor, charismatic personality and loving soul gave him the ability to connect with people in the rarest way. A spiritual man, he also had an immense love for the Savior and considered him his friend and made sure he told people how much the Savior loved them as well.

He leaves behind many loved ones and friends and we want to acknowledge everyone who loved him. We will be celebrating his life on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 2-4 pm at the Maitland Civic Center located at 641 Maitland Ave S, Maitland, FL 32751. Come wearing anything you want. The family would like to discourage wearing all black.
