Joseph's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our father, Joseph McKennon, who left us on November 15th, 2023. Born in 1938, he spent a lifetime creating memories that will be treasured and talked about by those who knew him. He was a man who truly lived his life to the fullest and had a heart full of love for all around him. His dear friends Ken, Irma, Abbey, Keith, Carol, Shanny, Elly, Kelly, the Collins, and many others helped make his last days peaceful and filled with love.
The sparkles in Joseph's life were the simple pleasures. Gastronomically, he was a man of simple taste, with coffee and ginger cookies being the delicacies he cherished the most. As someone known to appreciate the essence of everything he loved, Joseph enjoyed watching documentaries on television and found solace in the exquisite beauty of handcrafted woodwork and handmade crafts.
Joseph was not a man of sedentary habits, often seen running or bicycling, a testament to his zest for life. He also found joy in nature, with jading being a favorite pastime. A true hometown man, he cherished his hometown of Cambria. Locally, Jade Cove held a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed a good game of cribbage, especially with his friend Ken, and was an admirable supporter of the Lakers in his younger years.
Apart from being charming, witty, and full of good humor, Joseph was also a deeply caring person. He was kind, had a profound love for his friends, neighbors, and animals and cared immensely about their wellbeing. His darling cause was H.A.R.T. Animal Rescue in Cambria where he adopted his feline family members from over the years. His personality was carefree and easy going, a man who had a place in everyone's heart. Joseph always emphasized the importance of being kind to friends and neighbors, a lesson that he embodied and shared constantly.
Joseph leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity towards his friends, neighbors and animals. The deer, blue jays, crows, and squirrels in his backyard, whom he fed regularly, are surely singing his name in his absence. His departure has left a void that can't be filled, and he is deeply missed by many. It was an honor to have known Joseph and be a part of his life as his family and we know that his friends and neighbors feel the same way. Joseph's kindness and good humor will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
