Joseph's obituary

Joseph Philip Mazzei, 54, of Tampa, FL., passed away on December 6th, 2023.

Born on October 29, 1969 to William & Loretta Mazzei in Philadelphia, PA.

Joe was a dedicated Son, Loving Brother, Beloved Uncle, Encouraging & Loyal Friend, Respected Mentor, Successful Business Man, & devoted Christian. His favorite preacher was Joel Osteen.

Joe's Legacy is best summed in the Bible verse he would quote regularly: Galatians 6: 9 &10: "Let us not become weary of doing good".."Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people."

As a boy, he grew up in Westville, N.J. where his artistic talent was made known by painting a beautuful mural on the wall of his grade school that astonished many, and seemed to be way ahead of his childhood years.

Not only the Artist, but an athlete as well, garnering the attention and admiration of his Gator teammates on the football team for Gateway Regional High School, a force to be reckoned with, graduating in 1988.

As a young adult, his artistic expression took to music, teaching himself to play acoustic guitar, captivating many, including his nieces for hours, who sometimes joined him in song.

In 1994, he moved to Tampa, FL. beginning a new and exciting life there where he would make lifelong friends, engulf himself in the social scene, and fall in love with with The Sunshine State. The Florida sun matched his personality, as when you met Joe, it was like meeting a ray of sunshine.

In 2000, he went into business with his father, William Mazzei Sr., establishing the successful Mortgage Brokerage: Wholesale Mortgage Services LLC.

He married Stacy Headley in 2005. They divorced a few years later, but remained friends.

A special bond was shared with his dog Jimmy, who he loved very much and missed terribly when Jimmy crossed the rainbow bridge.

Joe took over the business as Sole Proprietor in 2009 when his father retired. He then became top in his field. Joe was the very best at what he did, and many sought him out for his expertise and knowledge they could find nowhere else.

He would always say: "I'm not in the problems business, I'm in the business of solutions!"

Many families realized their dream of owning the perfect home because of Joe, all the while he made sure they kept as much money in their pocket as possible.

His mint condition, fully restored black 1985 Laredo Jeep was his pride and joy, & he loved tooling around Channelside in Tampa on a beautiful day.

The best human, and the light and life in any room, he also made family and friends laugh hysterically with his wicked character impressions.

He was the smartest, funniest, handsome, most genuine soul with the biggest heart.

Joe lifted up and helped those in the throes of addiction, was a pillar in his community of Tampa Florida, and lovingly provided for his Mother's care in her final years.

In 2021, he bought a beautiful home for his younger brother taking care of his every need, again, with a loving and generous heart.

Joe was 1 in a billion.

His light, love, & presence will be forever missed and always celebrated.❤️

Joe is predeceased by his mother Loretta Mazzei (nee Vicchiarelli). Survived by his father William Mazzei III, sister Irene Ferry (nee Mazzei), brother Dr. William Mazzei, sister Angela Gardiner (nee Mazzei), and brother David Mazzei. Nephews: Jeffrey Ferry, Zachary Etchsman, Steven Schiazza. Neices: Lauren Capaldi (nee Ferry), Kristen Strumlak (nee Ferry), Emma Mazzei. Also survived by Philip Mazzei.
