Joe's obituary

Joseph "Joe" Fletcher, known affectionally by his loved ones as Joe, was born on November 16, 1931, and passed peacefully on April 15, 2023. With a life filled with love, laughter, and picturesque moments, Joe's presence will be deeply missed.

Joe was predeceased by his father, Joseph Lomerson Fletcher, and his brother, Herb Fletcher. He is survived by his wonderful wife of 40 years, Dorothy Fletcher and his ex-wife Muriel Fletcher Webb, who fondly journeyed with him through various chapters of his life. Joe's legacy lives on in his six loving children; daughters Erin Fletcher Conley (Kevin), Marybeth Hart (Craig), Jennifer Odom (JD), Joanna Goldman (Andrew), and his sons Jim Fletcher (Cheryl) and Joseph Fletcher (Kerry). The joy of his life extended to his grandchildren Joshua Holladay, Maegan Aja, David Holladay, JD Odom, Kate Odom, Fletcher Goldman, and Zachary Holladay, and four great-grandchildren, adding another beacon of joy to his life.

In 1990, Joe discovered a retirement career in nature photography. His keen eye and passion presented him with the title of an award-winning nature photographer, showcasing some of his most cherished memories through his work. His love for the outdoors also saw him traveling the Great Loop on a boat with Dorothy in 2006 and exploring the majestic Grand Canyon in 2018. Joe's favorite vacation spot included Key West, where he spent countless hours snorkeling for lobsters and capturing the beauty of nature through his lens.

Joe's love for life was not just limited to the great outdoors. He was a fan of good food and music, enjoying cheeseburgers and fries while listening to the tunes of Jimmy Buffet and Taylor Swift. He also supported the Dolphins passionately. In quieter moments, he could be found in his recliner with his cat Rocky purring between his legs.

Joe's life was a testimony of love and resilience. His soul touched many, and his memories will continue to live in the hearts of those he left behind. His journey may have ended, but his spirit remains eternal. His greatest accomplishments did not only lie in his professional successes but also in being a loving father of six children and a wonderful husband.

A celebration of life was held Nov 16, 2023. Family and friends ventured out to THE MOTHER LOAD located in the Atlantic Ocean off of Key West. Joe's ashes were scattered in a place where he was the happiest and content in the sea.
