Joe is survived by his wife of 42 years, Norma J. Goodwin Luzader and two step-children he loved and raised as his own: Daniel C. Amsler, Lisa D. Cox and husband Mike, who was also like a son to him; four grandchildren: Daniel Joseph Amsler, Shannon Rose Amsler, Joseph Michael Cox and companion Ashley Glass, and Megan Deeann Cox; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Colleen Holiday and husband Bill of Wilmington, NC and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James D. Luzader of Lewes, Delaware.
Joe was an Alumnus of Washington-Irving High School. In 1974 Joe joined the Clarksburg City Police Department. He began his career as an undercover narcotics agent and advanced through the department serving as firearms instructor, shift commander, and special response team commander. Joe retired in January 2009 as a Lieutenant after 35 dedicated years of service to his community.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 5 until 8pm. Private interment will take place at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
