Joseph's obituary
Joseph Lucero Lopez, 57 who was known to many as Joe or Joey has passed away due to medical complications on April 14, 2024 in Tyler, TX. He was surrounded by his children parents and sisters.
Joseph was born February 7, 1967 in Los Angeles, CA to the parents of Jose and Darlene Lopez. He was a very silly, fun loving and light spirited guy who loved his children, family and his friends very deeply.
He was raised in the city of northeast Los Angeles known as El Sereno where he made life long friends and memories he talked about often.
He had a passion for playing football and watching any sporting events he could find to watch. He was an avid Steelers fan but would represent any Jersey. He loved the game that much and he had a pretty cool jersey collection. Joseph loved singing, playing his guitar, and he loved to Run as a form of exercise.
He had a vast love of music with a mix of different genres. He shared his love for music and singing with all his children so much so that singing and listening to music will always remind them of him.
Joseph often spoke about Hawaii and how much he loved it after his senior High school trip. He enjoyed simple pleasures such as his favorite meal which was either Chinese food, tacos, Lengua and most importantly a good fresh bowl of beans. Everything had to specifically be eaten with tons of hot sauce. He absolutely loved his sweet treats and would often ask for something sweet to eat.
Joey had a strong desire to help underprivileged youth and started his working career in a preschool then with troubled youths and later finished with his long career as a corrections officer.
Joseph believed in not "sugar coating" things and believed in sharing “ the good, the bad the ugly, and the all inclusive." He was married three times and while the marriages did not work out he always asked about the welfare of his ex wives. He cared for multiple step children as his own blood and kept in touch with them even after the marriages ended, a true testament to the character of the man he was. Even as he entered his final days, he still was calling his family and asking about his sisters and brother and their welfare.
Joseph, while not actively involved as a member of Jehovahs witness, had been baptized later in life and had a strong belief in the resurrection of the dead, to a beautiful paradise on earth. As a family we are confident in that hope and can't wait to be with him again and see him in perfect health. While he is gone he will live on in our memory and through his children. May he rest well, Until we see him again.
His legacy will live on by his children Joseph Lopez, Jazmine Loria , Sarah Greguras and Austin Haralson along with grandsons Luca Lopez, Liam Lopez, Kayden Greguras, Zenith Haralson and granddaughters Mila Loria and Nola Loria. He instilled family values and love for family by teaching kindness and a love for Jehovah God. Joseph will Greatly be missed by his Parents Jose and Darlene Lopez, All his children, as well as his siblings Myra, Michael, Victoria and Lynette. And, along with many other nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
We are asking in lieu of flowers you Donate for any unaccounted funeral related costs and travel for his children. He will forever be in our hearts.
Thank you.
