Joseph's obituary
Joseph Patrick Loftus sadly passed away on December 18th, 2023 at Home Zibler Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, at age 64. He was a loving and caring father who had a wonderfully dry sense of humor even up until his final day. In fact, his favorite beverage was chocolate milk which fortunately was his last known meal that he had on this earth.
Joe (known as Pat to friends) was born to Joe (Sr.) and Diane Loftus on February 3rd, 1959 in Bayside, WI. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer & Electrical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. In college, he won a science competition for creating a machine that could respond to its user’s thoughts, though he was never able to perfect his machine for mind control. He worked as an Applications Engineer for Allen Bradley Corp in Cleveland and Baltimore 1983-1988 where he specialized in programmable controllers for the auto industry and was promoted to Area Manager for Allen Bradley in Flint, Michigan in 1987. He went on to become a successful businessman and eventually led the electrical contracting company Terminal Andrae Inc. (Milwaukee) as owner and President.
He was a lover of rock-and-roll music. While he was only in a band for a brief period as a college student, he kept the music alive by playing electric guitar up until his final days. Additionally, he was involved in his Germantown community, having coached numerous little league and baseball teams.
Joe is survived by his mother Diane Loftus, his brother John Loftus, his sisters Julie Loftus-Nelson, Mary Loftus and Jean Loftus. He is also survived by his former wife Debbi Morgan, daughter-in-law Christina Loftus, and grandchildren Lilah, Elliot, Oliver, and Madeline Loftus. But most of all, his memory will live on with his sons Cris, Scott, and Michael Loftus. He spent countless nights in heated, humid natatoriums watching Cris’ swim races, thousands of hours waiting for a fish to take the bait Musky fishing with Scott, and miles upon miles of green grass helping Michael perfect his golf swing. In turn, they will remember him as an excellent father and maker of the world’s best root-beer float. He was a fierce advocate for each of his sons and always remained their #1 fans.
A private life celebration will be held in January, with only relatives and close friends present. If he could be remembered by one encapsulating phrase, it would be to remember that in life, it’s not the outcome that truly matters, but rather “the process” of getting there.
“It’s all about the process. Always”. -Joe
