Joseph William Gallucci
February 9, 1932 – August 4, 2025
Joseph William Gallucci, 93, of Putnam Valley, NY passed away on August 4, 2025.
Born on February 9, 1932, he was the son of the late William Gallucci and Theresa (Cuomo) Gallucci. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Theresa (Bommicino) Gallucci; his son-in-law, Frank Malaspina; and his grandson, Peter Malaspina.
Mr. Gallucci was a gifted athlete in his youth, playing in the Minor Leagues and later he went to Umpire school in Daytona Beach. His name is recorded in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. A true team player, he always stepped up to the plate for family and friends and was known to hit life’s curveballs with grace and determination.
He later dedicated 40 years of service to General Motors in Tarrytown, where he was affectionately known as “The Mayor” for his leadership and camaraderie with coworkers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Georgian Gallucci; his children, Laura Gallucci, Jay Lowenstein (Kris Lowenstein), Helene Malaspina, and David Lowenstein (Alfonso Annotto); his grandchildren, Theresa Dinis (Abel Gonzalez), Joey Dinis (Kate Dinis), Katherine Lowenstein, Beth Pishke (Rob Pishke), Emily Nesi (Tom Nesi), Abby Lowenstein (Jerod Schmocker) , Angela Malaspina (James Corcoran), Thomas Gallucci, Angelo Lowenstein Annotto, and Gabriel Annotto Lowenstein; and his great-grandchildren, Daisy Dinis, Theo Pischke, Olive Dinis, Tessa Gonzalez, Julia Pischke, Jack Nesi, Gia Gonzalez, Luke Nesi and Margaret Pischke.
While he was a devoted son and a loving father, he was truly made for the role of grandfather. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life, and he cherished every moment he spent with them.
Mr. Gallucci will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of baseball, and the friendships he built throughout his life. As he rounds third and heads home, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
