Joseph Earl Fairchild, of Delton, MI, passed away at his home Saturday April 17th, 2021 at the age of 65. He was born on Monday August 1st, 1955 in Coldwater, MI, to Warren and Dorothy (Fuller) Fairchild. He grew up in Sherwood & Union City, MI until his family moved to Kalamazoo, MI where he attended and then graduated from Loy Norrix High School in 1973. Joe married Patty (Smith) Fairchild on June 11, 1977 in Milham Park, and moved to Shelp Lake (Delton) in November that same year. Joe loved living at the lake, especially windsurfing and swimming. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends; road trips up north; visiting Lake Michigan; snowboarding; and taking road trips around the U.S., especially to visit family. Joe worked for 18-plus years in various roles, including quality inspector, for the Aeromotive Factory, in Kalamazoo. Joe loved his grand-daughters more than anything in the world.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Jack) Baird and Lindsey (Matt) Harper; granddaughters Alexis Madelin Harper and Jane Annabelle Baird; his sisters Joyce (Kenny) Edgell and Jackie Brauker; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Fairchild; his parents, Warren and Dorothy Fairchild; a brother Jerry Fairchild; sisters Janith Albert and Jeannie Sabin; and best friend Paul Terberg.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 23rd, 2021 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Jennifer & Jack Baird’s residence, 1147 24th St S, Battle Creek, MI 49015. We encourage family and friends to share memories of him here, on facebook, or at the celebration.
