Joseph Chaney was born on August 18, 1955 to the Union of the late Jessie Lee Potts-Jones and the late Isiah Chaney, Sr. He was raised by the late Theodore Johnson. Joseph entered into eternal rest on February 23, 2022 at his home in Linden , Al.

      Joe confessed his love for Christ and was baptized. He was an active member in the male chorus at First Baptist Church. He was a hard worker, and for many years worked at Linden Lumber Company. Joe was friendly, kind-hearted, and always had a warm smile for everyone. Joe was always willing to help anyone in need, and lend a helping hand when he could. Joe loved a simple life and was well liked by many. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers. Thomas Lee, Thomas, Cleophus, Joe Nathan, and Isiah. 

                 Joe leaves to cherish his memories one son Joseph R. Chaney, two daughters Shameckia Conner of Lansing, Michigan and Almarilas(Fedricas) Shepherd of Montgomery,Al and his wife Marilyn Chaney, nine grandchildren, three sisters Bonita Chaney and Mattie Wade both of Jefferson,Al., Margaret Stewart, of Los Angeles, California and Geraldine Johnson of Chicago, Illinois. Six brothers, Lorenzo (Margaret)Chaney, David Chaney, Mobile,Al.,Robert Chaney of Hollis, New York., Roosevelt Chaney, John Chaney, and Randolph Chaney all of Chicago, Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
