Joseph's obituary

Joseph Allen Ceasar, Jr., a proud U.S. Army veteran, passed away June 29, 2025 in Martinsburg, West Virginia after a short battle with Cancer.

The son of Joseph Allen Ceasar, Sr. and Joyce Gaines, Joseph was born May 31, 1954 in Bronx, New York and grew up on Long Island. He was baptized in Solomon Temple Baptist Church where he sang in the Junior Jubilees youth choir founded by his late grandmother, Gladys Gaines.

Joseph served in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1981 as SPC-E4 Unit Supply Specialist (76YMOS). After serving in the military he lived and worked in various cities, finally making his home in Martinsburg.

Joseph made friends easily among fellow veterans, co-workers, and the people who live in his close-knit community. He made them his adopted family and made himself the self-appointed ‘Mayor’ of the neighborhood. Joseph enjoyed entertaining at home, serving up good food and great old-school R&B music. He loved his neighbors and military buddies and stayed in touch with friends, old and new, throughout his life.

Joseph will be deeply missed by his sister, Vanessa, and family members Karen Ellis, Deanna Roberts, Tonya Roberts, Sean and Monique Berry and their children Madison and Spencer. The family is grateful to everyone who prayed for them and provided loving care and support during this difficult time.

Joseph Allen Ceasar Jr.’s cremated remains will be interred in the columbarium at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
