He deeply cared about his family and always made time for them which often reflected in his recreational activities. Joseph deeply cherished his relationships with his siblings, Curtis Brown, Walter Brown, and Natasha Brown who survive him. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Brown and Jermaine Brown.

Joseph's protective nature shone brightly during his childhood, his sister Natasha recalls, he was always there for his siblings, ensuring that they felt safe and loved. His favorite color, blue, mirrored the tranquility and depth of his personality.
