Dear Blooms - we've definitely lost an angel to heaven.  Every time I think of him, it brings a smile to my face thinking about our great discussions around the dinner table or driving in the raucous RV!  Looking forward to sharing a celebration of his/your extraordinary life.

We are very sad to loose an incredible human being, Joe, from our extended family. He was not only an accomplished naval officer and doctor, but above all, he was an outstanding humanitarian. His calm and down to earth demeanor was a gift in itself. He was not only an interesting person, but he made anyone feel very comfortable. Above all, he was a wonderful husband and father to his children and grandchildren. We will miss him terribly!

I miss you dad……. You are forever cherished in my heart and in the fond memories of the 66 wonderful years we shared. I am deeply thankful for the privilege of having you as a remarkable, loving, and supportive male figure in my life and in the lives of my daughters. Your legacy as an exceptional man will be treasured and passed on through the generations. I eagerly anticipate the day when we will be reunited in an eternal embrace. In the meantime I see you in every sunrise and sunset. I feel your warmth in my grandkids laughter. I feel your strength to carry on when I feel sad or scared. I feel your guidance to always have hope. I love you dad.
Rest in peace. We will take good care of mom.

Dear Mary, family and friends of Joe,

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at Joe´s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow "Bubblehead" departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor on the USS Permit SSN-594.

To our "Brother-of-the-Phin" we say, "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Fair Winds and Following Seas." Thank you for your service to our country.

Mary and family... "may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you." 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV).

Jim Sandman, FTC(SS) Ret,

National Chaplain, USSVI.
