Joseph's obituary
Joseph “Joe” Best was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother and uncle, and a talented musician and sound technician whose passion for music and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Born and raised in Fairfield, Connecticut, Joe discovered his love for music early in life. He shared a special bond with his brother, Jack, rooted in their mutual passion for playing music. Together, they spent their younger years playing side by side, a connection that continued into adulthood as they performed in bands and carried their shared love of music throughout their lives.
In 1988, Joe moved to Florida with his beloved wife, Debbie, and their daughter, Alicia. There, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and music. Joe and Debbie’s marriage was a true partnership—one that modeled unwavering support, deep respect, and the importance of never taking one another for granted. Their relationship left a lasting impression on all who knew them, especially their daughter.
Joe’s love extended deeply to his family. He is survived by his brother Jack, with whom he shared a lifelong musical journey; his nephew Jake, Jack’s son; and Jake’s son, who brought Joe great joy and pride as he watched another generation grow. Joe treasured the many summers they spent together in Florida, creating lasting memories filled with warmth and laughter. He is also survived by his nieces, Renee and Danielle, daughters of his late sister, with whom he shared many holidays, birthdays, and meaningful family gatherings before moving to Florida, along with their families.
He was the beloved son of John and Lilian Best. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Doreen, whose memory he carried with him always.
After a long and courageous battle with brain cancer, Joe passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family he cherished most. Throughout his illness, Debbie remained his constant and devoted caregiver, always by his side. His daughter-in-law, Cassandra, provided unwavering support, advocacy, and love during this time, standing firmly with the family every step of the way.
Joe’s strength, wisdom, and love were the foundation of his family. He taught Alicia countless life lessons, especially about the power of music, resilience, and the importance of love. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the music he shared, and the deep connections he fostered with those around him.
Joe will be remembered for his kind heart, his enduring spirit, and the music that was always at the center of his life.
