Josefina "Josie" Villanueva, a woman of great strength, kindness, and resilience, passed away on February 12, 2024. Josie was born on March 13, 1935, to Miquel and Mercedes Ocampo in Clarksdale, Arizona. Despite her humble beginnings and the poverty that surrounded her youth, she carved out a good life for herself and her family.
Remembered for her hard work, caring nature, infectious laughter, and fierce independence, Josie was an emblem of perseverance and determination. She taught those around her the value of hard work and the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with God. As a devoted Catholic, her faith was very important to her.
Josie had a wonderful sense of humor and her performance every year at the San Antonia Hospital talent show was always a hit with her fellow employees. She loved her job so much, that for many years she traveled between San Antonia and Pamona Valley Hospitals as a Respiratory Therapist.
Josie's legacy is a testament to the power of kindness, generosity, and touching the lives of many. As a proud mother of five, she diligently worked to provide for her family, overcoming all odds to become a highly respected Respiratory Therapist. Her compassionate nature not only touched her family but also her patients whom she treated with utmost care and love.
She leaves behind her sons, Albert Villanueva, (Vickie), Robert Villanueva, David Villanueva, and Ricky Villanueva (Lucia). She also leaves behind grandchildren Alex, Josh, Paul, Andy, Ariana, Halley, Jasmine, Matthew, and Tia. Sisters Connie, Dora, and Sally. She was preceded in death by her daughter Marcella, her parents, and siblings Mike, Alfred, Rueben, Hope, and Gloria. The strength of her spirit and the warmth of her presence will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to know her. In the wake of her departure, her loved ones find comfort in reminiscing about her teachings and the beautiful memories she left behind.
Her enduring spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
