Jose's obituary

Jose Trinidad Rodriguez Santana, a loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on January 29, 2024, at the age of 90, surrounded by his nine living children. Born on June 11, 1933, in Tecolotlán, Jalisco, Mexico, Jose's life was a remarkable journey. He first moved to the United States in the 1950s, starting in agriculture, and experienced life in both countries before finally settling in the U.S. in the 1970s.

Known affectionately as Tata, Jose was a man of rich laughter, a loud and welcoming voice, and an exceptional talent for storytelling. He had a way of making everyone feel at home, often extending his fatherly love and care beyond his biological children, integrating close friends of his children as part of the family. This open-heartedness was a defining trait of his character.

Jose's early years were marked by hard work in various roles, from managing a liquor store in Sonora to running a janitorial business in the United States. He found joy in gardening while raising his children and later in life, raising chickens, sharing these moments with his beloved grandchildren.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Fausta Elena Rodriguez Cota, daughter Maria Refugio, grandson Victor Daniel Aparicio, and his parents, Jose leaves behind a legacy enriched by the love he gave and received. He is survived by his long-time partner Angelina Villaseñor, sister Guadalupe Hernandez, children Flora Elena Rodriguez, Luz Maria and Armando Cobian, Jose Manuel and Cynthia Rodriguez, Martha and Victor Aparicio, Evangelina Rodriguez, Lorenia and Craig McLoud, Josefina Rodriguez, Beatriz and Pascual Rivas, Christina and Franklin Barron, and numerous adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jose will be laid to rest next to his wife at Greenlawn Cemetery  Southwest in Bakersfield, California. Details of the wake and service will follow.

Jose's life, full of resilience, joy, and unwavering love for his family, will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
