Jose's obituary

Mr. Jose "Chichi" Orlando Hernandez was born in the Dominican Republic 4/19/1924, and passed away on Sunday 3/12/2023 at 10:15am at his home in Anaheim Hills, CA., he was 98 years old.  He was married to Rosine Hernandez from approximately 1947 to 1983, together they had 2 daughters, Sylvia Angela Hernandez (nicknamed "Sisi") and Veronica Odette Hernandez (nicknamed "Niki").  Jose was grandfather to Sean Gregory O'Neil, and Christian Joseph O'Neil, who were Sylvia's children.  Jose's parents were Jose "Pepe" Hernandez Torres, from Puerto Rico, and Eulalia "Lally" Gonzalez, also from Puerto Rico .   Jose is survived by his half brother Jose Antonio "Tony" Hernandez Boggiano  and is predeceased by his sister and 2 brothers, and another half brother.  

Jose was an aeronautical engineer, earned his BS Degree at the University in FL in Gainesville, worked as a spare parts engineer for Boeing, then called McDonnell Douglas, and retired after 20 years.

Jose was also a WWII Veteran, serving as a PFC, Rifleman 745, in the Infantry, and survived battles in France, Germany, Italy & Austria. His military decorations were WWII Victory Medal, Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, with an Honorable Discharge.

Date of service: Feb 1944 to Dec 1945.

Jose was a great husband, father, grandfather,  and brother, we will miss him immensely, and he will forever be in our hearts.
